Kaiser Permanente Small Business Plans in California

Kaiser is often the most competitively priced option for small groups in California. We help employers compare Kaiser against all other carriers — so you know exactly what you're getting and what you're giving up.

Why employers choose Kaiser

💰

Competitive pricing

Kaiser's integrated model keeps premiums lower than most PPO options, especially for small groups in the Bay Area, Sacramento, and Southern California.

🏥

Integrated care

Doctors, specialists, labs, pharmacy, and hospital — all under one roof. No surprise out-of-network bills. No claim forms for employees to file.

📱

Strong digital tools

Kaiser's app and online portal let employees schedule appointments, message doctors, refill prescriptions, and view results — all in one place.

📋

Simple administration

One carrier for medical. Clean billing. Straightforward enrollment. Less paperwork for HR teams who are already wearing multiple hats.

What to consider

Kaiser is a strong option — but it's not the right fit for every group. Here's what we tell employers to think about:

Network limitations

Kaiser is an HMO — employees must use Kaiser facilities and doctors. If your team values choosing their own physician or needs out-of-area coverage, a PPO from Anthem or Blue Shield may be a better fit.

Geographic coverage

Kaiser has strong coverage in the Bay Area, Sacramento, Southern California, and parts of the Central Valley. But if you have employees in rural areas or out of state, you'll need a supplemental option.

Plan flexibility

Kaiser offers HMO plans only — no PPO or EPO options. Some employers prefer offering employees a choice between HMO and PPO, which requires adding a second carrier.

Kaiser small group plan tiers

Kaiser offers plans across all four ACA metal tiers for groups with 1–100 employees. Here's a general overview — actual rates depend on your group's size, ages, and region.

Platinum

Highest premiums, lowest out-of-pocket. Copays as low as $0–$20. Best for groups that want minimal employee cost-sharing.

Gold

Moderate premiums, moderate cost-sharing. The most popular tier for small groups balancing cost with coverage quality.

Silver

Lower premiums, higher deductibles and copays. Good for younger, healthier groups or employers on a tighter budget.

Bronze

Lowest premiums, highest out-of-pocket. HDHP options available for pairing with an HSA. Best for cost-conscious groups.

Why compare Kaiser through a broker?

You can buy Kaiser directly — but the premium is the same either way. Broker compensation is already built into the rate, so working with us means you get expert guidance that's already included in what you're paying.

More importantly, we don't just quote Kaiser. We compare Kaiser against Anthem, Blue Shield, Health Net, UnitedHealthcare, and every other competitive carrier — side by side, with real rates for your specific group. That way you know Kaiser is the right choice, not just the familiar one.
